Federal Programs At MLS

Title One

  • MLS is a targeted school for K-8 Students who need additional help with reading and math.
  • Highly Qualified Staff – Is part of the No Child Left Behind Act
  • Conflict Resolution – Parent resource for conflict with federal title programs

Title Two

  • Are federal dollars that are based on free and reduced numbers of students in the district.
  • Dollars are designed to help staff with professional development, pay for specific programs, and hiring of quality staff.

Carl Perkins

  • A special federal program for vocational high school curriculums.  Dollars are for agriculture education, business education and family and consumer science.
  • MLS uses Carl Perkins funds for equipment and computer software purchases.

Hot Lunch – Free and Reduced

  • Based on a families economic status.  Parents in most cases are required to fill out an application that is reviewed by the business manager.  The federal government establishes income levels based on the number of members in a family.  Income information is sent out annually at the beginning of each year but families can apply at anytime when their income status changes.  Forms can be obtained in the business office in Mohall.
  • The percentage of students in this program determine the federal dollars MLS will get annually.
  • MLS has an established system that will maintain a family confidential economic information.  The state oversees this program to insure that MLS follows FERPA guidelines.
