Special Education Teacher
Grades 9–12 (Possible 7–12)

Position Overview
Our rural North Dakota public school is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 9–12, with the possibility of extending services to grades 7–12 based on licensure and district needs. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with students, families, and staff in a supportive, close-knit school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide special education instruction and support to students with IEPs in grades 9–12 (possibly 7–12)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and student success
  • Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and monitor progress
  • Communicate regularly with families, staff, and service providers
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and required documentation
  • Support students in building independence, self-advocacy, and post-secondary readiness skills
  • Collaborate with, guide, and assign responsibilities to special education paraprofessionals to support student learning and IEP implementation.

.Qualifications

  • Valid North Dakota Special Education Teaching License (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience working with secondary students preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Position Overview

Our rural North Dakota public school is seeking a caring and dependable Paraprofessional to support students and teachers in a positive, student-centered learning environment. This position plays an important role in helping students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with students, is flexible, and values teamwork within a small-school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students individually or in small groups under the direction of a classroom teacher or special education teacher

Activity Director

Reports To: High School Principal, Superintendent

Qualifications:

1. State of North Dakota Teaching License preferred.

2. Degree in Athletic Administration or related degree or related experience

3. Coaching and A.D. experience preferred.

4. Valid Driver's License, ability to drive small bus.

5. Meet the legal requirements relative to a criminal background check.

General Description:

The Activity Director must coordinate, supervise and evaluate the total interscholastic athletic program in the best interest of the students, complying with all NDHSA & Board of Education policies. The Activity Director shall ensure cost-effective program management and equity across all programs. As the Activity Director, all activity programs (Music, Speech & Drama, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, etc.) will be equally supported, supervised and evaluated in the best interest of students. They will coordinate all transportation for activities including schedule and supervise all bus personnel.

Essential Functions:

1. In collaboration with principal/superintendent, ensure all coaches/volunteers are recommended for approval by the Board of Education prior to beginning activities with students.

2. Ensure all coaches have met, CPR, First Aid, Concussion and coaching certifications.

3. Develop and place into operation the appropriate rules and regulations and enforce NDHSA, Class B and MLS Board of Education rules and regulations relative to athletic programs.

4. Meet with coaches before the season to review the athletic handbook and make any changes applicable to respective sports program, as well as procedures, rules, and needs. Ensure all coaches receive an athletic handbook. This handbook may need to be developed over the course of time.

5. Annually observe and evaluate each head coach and assure that each head coach evaluates each of those coaches in his/her program. Share evaluation with Principal for review; forward to Central office for placement in personnel file.

6. Ensure that middle school coaches are evaluated.

7. Receives, stores and processes all required paperwork from student participants (medical, concussion, travel, handbook, etc.). Distributes to coaches for each season as needed.

8. Arrange transportation required for activities.

9. Schedule all activity events appropriately. Trying to minimize class disruption when possible.

10. Secure and employ officials in accordance with provision set forth by the league and the NDHSA and ensure officials required by school teams are scheduled appropriately.

11. Arrange for timers, trainers, scorekeepers, ticket personnel, and administrative personnel involved in the total operation of all activity events.

12. Assume the responsibility to make appropriate arrangement to have contest and spectator facilities ready for all contests and coordinate the scheduling of facilities for practices.

13. In cooperation with other administrators, assists with supervision of activity events.

14. Arrange pre-season parent meetings to go over specific sport requirements, rules, grievance procedures, as well as open a clear channel of communication between parents, community and the school.  

15. Assure that all physical examinations are conducted in accordance with NDHSA regulations.

16. Prepare and maintain an effective uniform rotation schedule and uniforms are purchased accordingly.

17. Receive requisitions for equipment and supplies submitted by the coaches.

18. Work with district clerk on all purchasing requests.

19. Issue pay orders for athletic bills/invoices upon receipt of satisfactory supplies and equipment.

20. Understands and communicates all applicable board policies related to activities.

21. Maintain a complete inventory of all equipment for each sport as reported by the head coach.

22. Strive to maintain community awareness of all activity programs (News articles, press release, etc.)

23. Organize and supervise award night activities in cooperation with staff and principal(s).

24. Work as a liaison between sports boosters and school to make sure goals are uniform and consistent.

25. Present concerns relative to the activity programs to the Superintendent or school board.

26. Schedule all transportation and or bussing and communicate effectively with drivers and bus maintenance director.

27. Authorize payment for coaching and advising supplemental contracts.

28. Control activity event ticket sales.

29. Makes sure that non-athletic activities are strongly supported, encouraged, promoted & recognized.  

30. Abide by all School District policies.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens.

2. Conduct other duties related to the Athletic Director as coordinated with principals, and the Superintendent.

 

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.

· Occasional operation of a truck or vehicle under inclement weather conditions.

· Occasional interaction among unruly children.

· Occasional interaction with hostile and/or aggressive individuals
